If you’ve ever Googled something and only checked the first few results before clicking one — congratulations, you’ve just experienced exactly why SEO matters. Almost nobody scrolls to page two.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. In simple terms, it’s everything you do to help your website show up when someone searches for what you offer. If you run a boutique in Jhelum and someone searches “women’s clothing in Jhelum,” good SEO is the difference between them finding you or finding your competitor instead.
Here’s how I like to break it down into three parts:
1. On-Page SEO — This is the stuff you control directly on your own website. Clear page titles, proper headings, fast loading times, good descriptions for your images. Basically, making your site easy for both people and Google to understand.
2. Off-Page SEO — This is about your reputation outside your own website. Mainly backlinks, which are basically other websites vouching for you by linking to yours. The more relevant, trustworthy sites that link to you, the more Google trusts you too.
3. Technical SEO — The behind-the-scenes stuff. Is your site fast? Does it work properly on phones? Can Google even crawl it properly? This part isn’t glamorous, but it matters a lot.
Honestly, SEO isn’t something you “finish.” It’s more like exercise — you keep at it, a little at a time, and the results build up. I’m still learning it myself, but even small, consistent changes make a real difference over time.
